Grandmom Retires
Today we made the not-so-"star" trek down to my 'rent's house. We picked up Uncle Tim on the way and arrived in DE around noon. We were there to celebrate my mother retiring from the rat-race that is juvenile probation (I want to retire, dammit). My Aunt Barb and Uncle June had come all the way from Bay City, MI to join in the festivites and to meet Juliet. Finster was a big hit. My parents don't get to see her as often as any of us would like so they only get to witness snapshots of her development. At this point she loves animals but has no idea how to properly treat them. She crawls all over the place, especially toward wires (her favorite) and anything else of interest (she was diggin' the plastic lobster in their lobster trap table). She sits up and even stands sometimes. Anyway, if you read this journal you already know all of that. This was the first time that my family got to see a lot of that. They were very impressed. They finally got to see, first hand, that you cannot turn your back on her for a second. Juliet did some of her yoga positions such as Downward Dog. Everyone agreed that she would be walking soon (and that then we will be in trouble). There was a lot of bonding going on. I think that Juliet recognizes my family and the dogs, which is good since they don't get to see each other too much. Juju gets a real kick out of my Dad. He's the kook on the other side of the room waving his arm in the air at her. Anyway, she sat at the table and ate with us. My mom got to feed her her bottle once or twice. Of course we had to do the Lobster Halloween Costume modeling session. Tim got to ride in a car with her screaming for an hour or two on the way home. A good time was had by all.
