Day 4, Still Stuck In Sickland |
|
As usual the day began with the entry of baby Juliet for her early morning nosh. Also, as usual, she hung around for a long time afterward.
By this time Hannah had run out of clothing and stuff so we made a quick run home. While Hannah got showered and changed I tried to post the first pictures of the baby on the web site but ViaNetworks was having a meltdown and I couldn't get FTP to respond. I have since dumped them and all is right with the world. Anyway, after an hour or two of me pulling out my hair I bagged it and we went back to the hospital.
We had some visitors. Rachel had extended her stay in the area in the the hopes that she would be around for the homecoming, which we were hoping would have been today, the 48 hour minimum. She came and visited with us for a while as did Terri. Hannah's brother and sister-in-law came in later that evening. The day was basically spent waiting for the day to pass. Is it time to go home yet? We spent some quality time with family and friends and watched some second-rate TV. We were hopeful that we would be out of there tomorrow. If that obnoxious woman comes around to charge for the TV and phone one more time I'm going to have to bust a cap on her ass.
Doctor Rothchild came in around 6:00 PM. He made a deal with us that if we were to schedule an appointment with Julie's pediatrician for Thursday or Friday he would spring her in the morning. You have never seen fingers fly across a phone keypad so fast in your life. Happily the ped's ofice has somewhat extended hours and were happy to accomodate us. With appointment in hand we were all excited to get the hell out of there. Well, it turns out that that happened much more quickly than we thought it would. Apparently while we weren't looking there was a baby boom in the maternity ward. They needed the room and we had to bail. It would have been nice to have a bit more notice, but at 10:00 PM or so we headed to the homestead. We were concerned that we would be missing two or three feedings. In order to mitigate that we decided to come back for her 5:00 AM feeding (yikes). Anyway it was back to the homestead for some brief R&R before heading back to the hospital. Although our daughter had never been there, the house seemed eerily empty without her. It was very bizaar. |
