| This weekend we made another sojourn to Rochester. Juliet has given up on sleeping in the car. Depite the fact that she was several hours overdue for her nap she stayed awake, glassy-eyed, thumb-and-dolly-in-mouth, head tilted, yet awake. She just vegged watching her Baby Einstein videos. She handled it rather well though. As in the past she didn't start her complaints until after we got off of the NY Throughway. According to the computer the trip up took 4:38:00, 305.1 miles with an average speed of 67 MPH (I love that thing). Once there Finster showed her thirst by burying her face in the cat's water dish. This is something she used to do at our place but seemed to get away from in recent weeks. Apparently a new dish presents new excitement. She was obsessed with the thing the whole time we were there. She also was diggin' the little cabinet thing with the blender in it. I think she wanted a daiquiri. While there Baby Face got the opportunity to play with the cousins and their toys. She was fascinated by this air table thing we had gotten for Ethan a couple of years ago. It's a little table with these geyser-like fittings on it. When plastic tubes containing various air-driven doodads are placed upon these fittings the doodads do things (but not dads). She could not get enough of it so we borrowed it and brought it home. It is her new favorite thing. Jen stopped by for a visit. We had brought up this Fisher Price piggy bank. Hannah remembered that Kyle loved it so we brought it with us. Anyway, Kyle was putting the coins in the slot on the top. Juliet has tried doing this but was never really successful at it, until now. All of a sudden she was picking up the coins and lining them up properly. It's interesting how she can take cues from others roughly her age, when she can't take those same cues from us. I guess its a competitive thing? Who knows. Basically the day was spent relaxing after the long trip up. |
